Stalled Train Blocks West Frankfort Traffic
WEST FRANKFORT -- It was a traffic nightmare for West Frankfort residents Sunday evening after a 150-car Union Pacific train stalled on the tracks for nearly two hours.
Officials say there was a malfunction with the coal train's braking system around 5:30 p.m. By 7:30 p.m., train officials detached the south half of the train and pulled up the northern half, clearing the most of the road crossings.
