Broken Water Pipe Repaired in West Frankfort

By WSIL Reporter

WEST FRANKFORT -- Crews have repaired a massive main break that has leaked tens of thousands of gallons of city water since it was discovered.

Water service was cut off for hundreds of homes much of the day Tuesday as crews dug up and repaired the broken main.
The break happened on Cleveland Street, on the east side of West Frankfort.
A homeowner discovered it last week when the water flooded his yard.
Homeowners in a 20-block area between Cherry Street and Old Marion road were affected by the service outage.  It lasted from Tuesday morning until about 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
That section of town is under a boil water order until further notice.
