Benton Woman Arrested for Fake 'Justice for Molly' Fundraiser
BENTON -- Benton Police have arrested a woman they say falsely claimed to be raising money for the Justice for Molly organization.
Donna Restivo, 50, of Benton, was taken into custody Monday on a charge of deceptive practice.
Police say Restivo placed an ad in a newspaper advertising a garage sale with all the proceeds going to Justice for Molly, a group formed in response to the March 2012 shooting death of 21-year-old Molly Young.
According to police, Restivo did not contact the organization or turn over any of the money raised.
Restivo was taken to the Franklin County Jail where she later bonded out.
Young's death is currently under investigation by the Office of the State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutor.
