BENTON -- The Benton Rangers got all they could handle from Robinson Saturday, but came out on top 28-24 to advance in the Class 3A football playoffs.

The Rangers trailed just before the half when Dylan Sheeks found the endzone for the go ahead score making it 15-12.

Sheeks would rumble up the middle again in the third to extend the Ranger lead to 22-12.

Robinson orchestrated a drive inside the Benton 10, but Tyler Owens intercepted Bucky Stevens' pass and returned it 97 yards to the one-yard line.

From there, Sheeks finished it off with another score, extending the lead to 28-12.

Robinson got a late score and had the ball with 18 seconds left in the game but Stevens threw another interception as the buzzer sounded to give the Rangers a first round victory.

Benton (9-1) will travel to Carterville (7-3) next week for a week one rematch with the Lions.
