ULLIN -- Waltonville rallied from a 17 point halftime deficit to beat Cairo 73-69 Friday night, in a game played at Shawnee College.

The Pilots led 46-29 at the half, when the Spartans fought back with a 13-2 run to trail by six midway through the third.

Waltonville eventually took a 69-67 lead with less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter. That's when things got interesting.

Spartans' guard Trey Witges appeared to turn the ball over leading to a Cairo fast break, but the referees blew the play dead, preventing an easy Pilots bucket that would have tied the game.

Cairo head coach Larry Baldwin was furious, arguing the timeout call was late. Baldwin was whistled for a technical. The Spartans missed both technical free throws, but eventually made two more free throws to seal the win.
