MULKEYTOWN -- Greg Webb and Josh Hutchinson were in the right place at the right time.

"Sideswiped my pine tree, went through my wife's forsythia bush, and then hit the tree, actually caught on fire, and then Josh drug the young man out," said Greg Webb of Mulkeytown.

"After I pulled him out, then Greg got there, and we pulled him all the way down to here at first until the car started blowing up. Then we took him right down there to where he stayed until the paramedics showed up," said Josh Hutchinson.

Josh Hutchinson and Greg Webb have been neighbors for years, and both say this curve on Main Street in Mulkeytown is dangerous. Greg says there have been eight car accidents in his front yard in the past 15 years. The most recent wreck happened Jan. 20. Josh says he heard a loud sound then saw flames when he looked out his window.

"I just threw a pair of shoes on and came running over here," said Josh.

Josh first thought Greg and Cindy Webb's house was on fire. When he got closer, he saw the wrecked car and noticed a man was unconscious in the passenger seat.

"The young man that was in the passenger seat, the top of his body was hanging out of the car with the door open, and the bottom half, his legs and everything, were in the car. So I pulled him out and got him away, and then my neighbor Greg came outside," said Josh.

Greg also helped drag the man away from the burning car. He says within seconds the car was fully engulfed in flames as high as the top branches of a large maple tree.

"I'm very proud of him. He was the first one to get there and pull that young man out. His timing saved that young man's life," said Greg.

"I feel like me and Greg saved his life because if it wasn't for both of us, I don't think I could of pulled him away from the car before the car started blowin' up," said Josh.

The driver of the car was ticketed for speeding and drunk driving. The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

"The young man that we helped save I think God's got a bigger plan for him. Otherwise, he wouldn't have put Josh, his guardian angel, there to pull him out of the car," said Greg.

"I don't want to say we're heroes, I just want to say that we were glad to help that guy out and we were just there for a reason," said Josh.
