SIKESTON, MO - An 18 month, multi-agency narcotics investigation leads to the arrest of a number of individuals in the Southeast Missouri area.

Wednesday Sikeston DPS and several other cooperating agencies conducted a warrant round up in reference to Drug Trafficking in Southeastern Missouri. The ‘round up’ kicked off in Sikeston on August 31st at 6:00am and when the detail was concluded 31 people were in custody at DPS HQ.

This narcotics investigation has been ongoing for more than a year and a half and led to over 15 Federal indictments as well as around 50 State indictments for other co-conspirators.

Chief Juden commented saying, “These long term investigations can be demanding. The effort put forth by each of these investigators is a compliment to their individual agencies.”

This ‘Task Force’ spent hundreds of man hours over the last 18 months working toward this first group of indictments. Bringing this case all together demonstrates the good working relationship between the various agencies involved.

The Task Force was composed of investigators from Missouri State Highway Patrol, SEMO Drug Task Force, Bootheel Drug Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, The US Attorney’s Office, Cape Girardeau Police Department and Sikeston DPS. We would also like acknowledge the effort by the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office who was instrumental in the State indictments.
