CARTERVILLE- The Carterville School District and local police are investigating after an audit uncovered missing funds.

Administrators said the audit showed the district's treasurer acquired money he shouldn't have, and Monday night the school board voted unanimously to dismiss him. Todd Frazier is no longer employed with the district.

The Carterville school superintendent said Frazier acquired roughly $114,000 that wasn't his. School officials said they discovered payroll irregularities in a recent audit.

The district spent two months investigating those irregularities. Officials said it seems that money was taken over the course of five years.

Superintendent Bob Prusator said he can't get into great detail about Frasier's dismissal because there is an ongoing investigation, but he had this message for concerned parents and staff.

"What we've been working on and through, will in no way impact the work that goes on in classrooms every day. So there's just no negative impact there. Day to day operations are moving on just as they always have," said Prusator.

He said information has been handed over to Carterville police who are now investigating as well.

Frasier was not at the meeting Monday evening.

School officials were not able to talk about any specific details about his reaction to these allegations.

In the meantime, the board voted for former treasurer Rose Ann Rector to take on the responsibility for now. Whether her position will be interim or permanent is not clear.
