Benefit Held in Honor of Sidnee Stephens
PERRY CO. - Family and friends of a teen who was murdered last year held a benefit in her honor on Saturday.
Sidnee Stephens was murdered in July 2010, and yesterday, her family and friends held a poker run and benefit for Stephens.
Most of the money raised will go to the Sidnee Fund at Southern Illinois Regional Social Services. The fund is designed to help families with a child who has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.
The rest of the money raised will go towards a scholarship for a graduating senior at Pinckneyville High School.
Tracy Stepehens, Sidnee's mother, has high hopes for the fundraiser.
"We're hoping to write SIRSS an even bigger check this year and be able to give an even bigger scholarship. So all the way around, we're gonna help somebody because that's what Sidnee was about. She loved to help people."
More than seventy bikers took part in the poker run.
