WHITE CO. -- A Carmi woman has been rescued after spending hours trapped in mud.

Police got the call around 9:45 Sunday morning for a body near a Little Wabash River boat ramp. However, when police got to the scene, they found 39-year-old Amy Chittwood was still alive.

Chittwood fell sometime on Saturday and injured her hip. She was also stuck in thick mud, leaving her unable to get out.

Chittwood was flown to a hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment. White County Sheriff Doug Meier said her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
