Williamson County Unveils Two New Courtrooms

By Evie Allen

MARION -- People packed Court Room 6 on the ground floor on Friday for a special dedication ceremony.

The ceremony gave attendees a chance to see some of the new technology and amenities. Judge Phillip Palmer led the festivities that included guest speakers, attorney James Bleyer and Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lloyd Karmeier.
Judge Palmer says Friday's dedication serves as a reminder to continue to work to uphold the justice system.
"All the hard work that everybody's done tirelessly day and night for three and a half years to get to this point. And to remind us of judges too do their part and dedication ourselves to the job," Palmer said.
Court Room 6 can seat 110 people. It's one of two new courtrooms on the ground floor of the courthouse. The new facilities will handle traffic felonies and misdemeanors. Civil cases will be heard upstairs.
