WDBX Summer Street Festival

CARBONDALE -- If you happened to be near downtown Carbondale Saturday afternoon evening, you probably heard the sounds of the Summer Street Festival.

Carbondale radio station WDBX hosted its second annual music festival. It was going on right outside their studios on North Washington street.
The event started last year as a fundraiser to build additional space onto the WDBX studio. Now, organizers are hoping to make it an annual fundraiser for their station.
"We're a community station, so we don't rely on corporate sponsorship. So having an event like this brings us out into the community and lets the community know we're here. And it also raises money for the station so we can keep the lights on and pay the bills," explains DJ Tristan Gossman.
Nine bands played throughout the afternoon and into the evening. There was also plenty of food and activities.
