Vet Finishes Trek Across State
WSIL -- The journey is over for a veteran walking the length of Illinois. Bill Trow reached the Wisconsin border on Saturday, wrapping up his 435-mile trek.
The Vietnam vet from Arlington Heights started the walk back on July 20th. He planned to travel south to north in 19 days. But only a few days in, he was forced to stop after developing shin splints.
Trow started walking again in late August, covering 20 miles each day. His effort raised more than $20,000 in pledges for the Vietnam Veterans of America.
