Two Arrested in Murphysboro For DUI
MURPHYSBORO -- Two Jackson County residents are behind bars for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Murphysboro police arrested 34-year-old Stacy Preston after they were called to an accident early Sunday morning. She had ran a red light at the intersection of Walnut and Second streets, nearly hitting a motorcyclist, then struck a traffic signal while going down an embankment. She has been charged with failing to reduce speed and a DUI.
While police were on the scene, they arrested 49-year-old Bradley Rife of Murphysboro, who had stopped to help. Officers say he, too, was under the influence of alcohol and charged with a DUI.
