MARION -- Two women are accused of taking part in a shoplifting ring that hit a local store.

Shawn Thomas and LaTonya Jack were arrested last week in central Illinois. State police say they were involved in a retail theft ring across multiple states in the past 18 months.

Among the targets is a Marion department store that took a major loss.

State Police say Dillard's had $63,000 worth of merchandise stolen by the theft ring.

Police say they found several large bags containing hundreds of items. The bags were filled with clothing, including bras, shorts, shirts and perfume.

Authorities also discovered numerous keys, similar to those used to lock department store display cases, side cutters, department store UPC stickers and a container of OC spray.

There was about $6,500 worth of merchandise in the car. Investigators are still trying to track down the rest of the stolen items.

The two women are both from St. Louis. They're charged with theft and possession of stolen property and are being held in the Montgomery County Jail.

Anyone with information related to this retail theft operation should contact ISP District 18 at 217-324-4900.
