Tree of Life Tradition Remembers Those Passed Away
MARION -- Folks gathered in Marion on Sunday to remember loved ones who have passed away. Hospice of Southern Illinois held it's annual Tree of Life tradition at various hospitals across the region.
In Marion, people had the chance to celebrate the life of a loved one by placing a card with the person's name on a lit tree. Organizers say this event provides a good opportunity for folks to support one another during the holidays.
"Hospice is not about dying, it is about living. It is about making the best of every moment and that is before your loved one dies and after they die," says Hospice Community Education Manager Deborah Hogg.
This is the 12th year that Hospice of Southern Illinois has hosted the event. It's put on twice a year.
