Students, Teachers Raise Money For Cook With Cancer
WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- Thursday was a night of good food and fellowship in Marion to raise money for a school cafeteria worker who is battling cancer.
Beth Hearn works at Lincoln Elementary in the Marion school district.. Folks enjoyed a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at the school Thursday evening in her honor. The event also featured all kinds of activities for kids from face painting to a dunk tank.
Students and staff say it's all about showering Beth with support.
"She's really sweet and nice and she helps kids with a lot of things," said fourth grader Kaley Furlong.
"We wanted to do something that would appeal to our students, since it really is more about our children and our staff reaching out and just trying to give Beth a hug, let her know we love her," organizer Virginia Davis told News 3.
All of the money raised at the spaghetti dinner will go to Beth's medical expenses. Modern Woodmen of America is matching the proceeds up to $2,500.
