WEST FRANKFORT -- The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating an early morning fire in West Frankfort.

Crews were called to 106 West 4th Street around 12:20 a.m. Monday.

West Frankfort Fire Chief Jody Allen says flames were coming from one corner of the unoccupied home.

Firefighters from four other departments were called to help West Frankfort.

"With the temperatures and humidity we have had the past few days, it makes working on a fire scene almost unbearable for the firefighters," said Chief Allen. "We greatly appreciate the mutual aid that comes to help us out."

Crews were on scene until almost 3 a.m. Monday. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
