WSIL -- Hong Kong Buffet in Marion earned an 81 the last time the health department came by.

The inspector marked off for two critical issues. A hand sink wasn't accessible, because some food equipment was left in it; the sanitizer bucket for the dish machine was empty. It had to be replaced and the line to the machine needed to be primed.
The other, more minor violations included food that was being store on the floor of the freezer, leftovers that had to be labeled with the date and time to ensure they weren't kept for more than seven days, floor tiles in the dish area that needed repairs, and a wooden shelf in the waitress station that had to be painted. The report notes all food should be covered or under a sneeze guard and all equipment stored clean and dry.
Management says they were able to correct both of the critical issues right away and always make any of the health department's concerns top priority.
An 82 puts Plaza Restaurant in Benton next on our list. There were a pair of critical violations here as well.
The sanitizer for the dish machine and cleaning rags wasn't at the correct concentration, and a refrigerator wasn't cold enough. Bottles of water and oil on the cook line had to be labeled, there was severe ice accumulation in the freezer that needed to be defrosted, and the kitchen ceiling was dirty and some tiles had to be replaced.
El Jalapeno in Anna received an 89 from the inspector.
There were no critical problems, but some refrigerated food was left uncovered. The burners had to be cleaned, some bulk food containers weren't labeled with their contents, and gasoline was being stored in the same room as food.
Panda Garden in Du Quoin got a 92 on its most recent check.
The restaurant lost points for having children and bedding in the kitchen. The floor around the equipment was dirty, and the paper towels had run out at a hand sink.
And topping this week's Report Card is Anna's Brick House Grill with a 98. The only minor issue was some asparagus in the cooler that wasn't covered properly.
