Police Investigating Friday Morning Shootings

MT. VERNON -- Police are investigating two reports of shots fired early Friday morning in Mt. Vernon.

Mt. Vernon Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 4100 block of Willow Springs sometime after 3:30 a.m. Friday. A woman suffered a non-life threatening leg injury from a gunshot that police say was intentionally fired from outside her home. A parked vehicle outside the residence also took gun fire.
A second report of shots fired came in a short time later in the 400 block of South 17th Street. Police say bullets struck a house; no one was injured.
Police don't have any suspects in the crimes, and an investigation is ongoing.
