Police Investigate Robbery Near SIU Campus

CARBONDALE- The Carbondale Police Department and Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Department of Public Safety are investigating a robbery that occurred early Saturday morning near University Hall.

The incident happened around 3:00 am. The victim, and SIU student, told police that three black males approached her as she was walking and stold her purse.

The suspects were last seen running from the area.

The victim was not hurt.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Carbondale Police Department, 618/457-3200, the SIU Carbondale Department of Public Safety at 618/453-3771, or the Crime Stopper Line at 618/549-COPS.

Police advise members of the campus community to be aware of their surroundings at all times, and if traveling at night to use the Saluki Express, Night Safety Transit Service and Brightway Path. In addition, emergency call phones are located across campus, including on both overpasses.
