Pinckneyville Students March Out Drugs
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Children at one Perry County school took to the streets Friday afternoon to march out drugs.
The walk around one city block marked the end of Red Ribbon Week for Pinckneyville Grade School. The students designed their own signs to carry in the march and came up with a class chant.
Teachers believe it's a small way to leave big impression if these kids ever face a tough decision about trying drugs.
"So many days we spend in the classroom with pencil and paper," said First Grade Teacher Londa Campbell. "We wanted to do a hands-on activity this week. Take the children outside and make it more memorable."
The children were joined by law enforcement and local businesses.
After they finished the march, the entire school gathered for a red balloon send-off.
