WILLIAMSON CO. -- Wednesday marked the first day of classes at a brand new school in Carterville.

Carterville Christian Preparatory Academy welcomed 15 students through its doors. The school ranges from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

The school's goal is to offer a well-rounded, Christian-based education. There are three full-time teachers, along with other instructors contracted to teach fine arts classes like music and art.

Teacher Brittany Allgaier says it is an exciting, fresh start for everyone.

"We're planning to grow and expand as our year goes throughout this year and the future. We're excited to have our nice facility and buildings with extra classrooms. We offer Spanish, music and art this year," Allgaier said.
