WSIL -- A longtime Murphysboro pit master is receiving national recognition for his cooking.

Pat Burke, owner of Pat's Barbecue and Catering in Murphysboro, will be inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame later this fall.

He's been in the business for more than 25 years and says he's competed in more than 200 cook-offs across the country, winning more than half of them.

Burke says this is his greatest achievement.

"It's a big deal when you consider how many of the pit masters there are across the country," said Burke. "To be able to be inducted into the hall by your peers, it's a great award."

Burke will officially be inducted into the Hall of Fame in October at the annual World Series of Barbecue Championship in Kansas City.
