Mt. Vernon Hosts Fall Festival
MT. VERNON -- A fun Saturday for folks in Mt. Vernon who attended the city's Fall Festival. It's a three day event that organizers expect to draw in about 6,000 people. One of the biggest features is their live music lineup through each day.
Saturday afternoon, people lined the streets for a parade that boasted 12 marching bands. Organizers say the festival is shedding a good light on the city.
"It's good exposure for Mt. Vernon, any type of festival like this is great exposure. It's not only good for the community, but it's good for the outlying area and all of southern Illinois," explains Robert Feltmeier, a festival committee member.
This is the second year for the event. Sunday will feature several Christian bands all afternoon and evening.
