More Than 32,000 Without Power in Illinois

By Associated Press

PEORIA, IL (AP) - Ameren Illinois says about 32,000 customers were without power in the state after a line of storms moved through Illinois.

The utility reported the outages on Thursday evening. Affected areas included central, southern and eastern Illinois. That includes the Peoria and Pekin area, Urbana and south of Danville, Decatur, Shelbyville and the Illinois suburbs of St. Louis.

Ameren officials say they have crews assessing damage. They say they don't have an estimation time that power will be restored.

Ameren says it has about 1.2 million customers in the areas where outages were reported.
