MOUNDS, IL.-- Elementary students  will soon have their own classroom again.

After being condemned last year, a plan to rebuild Meridian Elementary School is in the works. Plans include building a new addition for nearly 400 students, then demolishing the existing school.

Toxic black mold forced crews to condemn the building last year. All students in the district have been taking classes in shifts at the high school.

The total cost of the project is nearly $9,000,000 dollars. Most of that price is covered by grants.
