Menard Prison on Lockdown After Attack

CHESTER --  Five employees at Menard Correctional Center were hurt in an inmate attack Thursday afternoon.

 
According to an AFSCME spokesperson it happened in the kitchen area around 2:40 p.m. One correctional officer and four other workers were injured. An Illinois Department of Corrections spokesperson says all those employees were treated and released from nearby hospitals. 
 
Three inmates are believed to be behind the attack. The IDOC now has the maximum-security prison on lockdown while they investigate.
