Marion Woman Turns 105

By Brandon Merano

MARION -- A Marion woman is celebrating her 105th birthday. Mary Overbey has lived in Marion all her life.

She says she likes getting out and about to shop. Tuesday she enjoyed cake and drinks with friends at Sam's Club in Marion, but she wasn't expecting the celebration.

"I was shocked I didn't know they had all this, I've enjoyed it though," said Mary.

Her caregiver Sandy Tanner said, "She's very healthy does real good here long life she always said it's because she always ate fruits and vegetables and drank water and things like that."

The folks at Sam's Club see Mary all the time.

"She's very funny. You just don't think she's as old as she is. She's so spry and she dresses herself up every morning," said Sam's employee Glenna Miller.

Marion Mayor Bob Butler also celebrated.  He declared Tuesday "Mary Overbey Day" in Marion.
