Marion Church Undertakes Community Projects

By WSIL Reporter

MARION -- A Marion church spent Saturday giving back to its community. The Second Baptist Church is calling this mission project "Embrace Marion."

Church members say they're putting in their time to express their love to the community. At Ray Fosse Park, one group was repainting some of the wooden park equipment.

"We got out here at about 8 a.m. today and had two different groups," explained Volunteer Will Woofard. "One of them went to Jefferson Elementary and helped do some landscaping there, and we got here about 8 a.m. and just started painting away.

The church also baked cookies and delivered them to the police and fire departments. Members also spent some time helping at a local homeless shelter.
