MARION -- Dozens of families came together Monday for a community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Boyton Street Community Center hosts the event every year.

Several singers took to the stage for special performances, but the younger children from the After School All-Stars stole the show with their songs and rhymes.

Organizers wanted to convey the message to continue to fight for equality.

"Our theme this year is "Challenges Beyond the Dream". And that's what Pastor Swims will be speaking about. But that's what we want to get across, is yes, there's a dream, but there's still many challenges left," explains Ron Ferguson, the Boyton Street Community Board Chair.

The two winning students of the Kathleen Pape Scholarship were also announced. They will each receive $500 to help pay for college.
