Manhunt Ends With Arrest in Saline County
WSIL-- The man involved in a standoff with authorities Thursday is behind bars today.
Around 11 PM Saturday the Saline County Sheriff's Office received a tip that Brain Potts was seen entering a home on HWY 145 South, just outside of Harrisburg.
Potts was wanted on a Saline County warrant for Failure to appear and for an Illinois Parole Violation warrant. Saline County deputies and Harrisburg Police officers responded to the residence and spoke with the person living there. They informed the officers that Potts was inside and that he was armed with a loaded handgun.
Authorities secured the area around the home and the ILEAS Tactical Team was called in. At 5:45 a.m. Sunday the ILEAS Team entered the home and apprehended Potts. He was arrested for Felon in Possession of a firearm, and on the outstanding warrants. Potts is being held in the Saline County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.
Thursday around 2:30 p.m., a 911 call came in to the Equality Police Department for a domestic dispute between Potts and his live-in girlfriend. She escaped, and a short time later police arrived on the scene. Police were told they had seen Potts come outside with a gun, turn and run into his trailer. They now believe he escaped through the back door. Potts was on the loose until the Sunday morning arrest.
