Major Clean-Up Around State Parks
WSIL -- A national event has encouraged many local folks to get up early and clean up public areas around southern Illinois. It's all part of National Public Lands Day. More than 400 volunteers pitched-in to help clean up along Rend Lake's roadways and the shoreline. The Kiwanis Club also provided a free lunch for volunteers.
In Williamson County, nearly 150 volunteers were out in full force, picking up garbage along Highway 13 and around the Crab Orchard Lake shoreline. Organizers say it's important to keep our parks looking attractive for tourists.
