SALINE COUNTY-- A Sunday morning lightning strike sparked an oil tank fire in Eldorado.

The Eldorado Fire Department responded just after 3 a.m. Sunday. The lightning struck a set of oil tanks owned by Campbell Enterprises. Officials say because it was an oil fire, their only option was to let it burn naturally. After fire departments left the scene, workers used limestone to contain the flames.

Witnesses say they were worried Sunday morning, when the flames scorched the top of a tree that stood more than 50 yards away.

"When I opened up the window blinds, well I'd thought I'd died and went to hell," said neighbor Debbie Hathaway-Drone. "It just exploded right there before my eyes."

The company says no one was injured. They had trucks and workers onsite all day to handle cleanup.
