CARBONDALE -- Residents of a Carbondale care facility are celebrating National Nursing Home Week and giving back to their community.

Carbondale Rehab and Nursing Center is hosting a food drive to benefit Good Samaritan Ministries. It's part of a weeklong, Hawaiian themed celebration.

On Monday, residents gathered for a luau while a performer sang Elvis tunes.

Friends and family members are invited to attend this week's events and bring donations for the drive.

"We love the community and want more in here so we can show them that this is not just a nursing home this is a home.  We're not anything except just a good home with a good heart.  So we want to show the community that we can get back out there and give our hearts back out to them also," said Robin Leehy, assistant administrator.
