Kentucky Man Arrested For Writing Fake Checks
HOPKINSVILLE, KY -- A Hopkinsville, Kentucky man is facing charges of forgery and theft for writing fake checks. Deputies arrested 38-year-old Timothy Wharton after an investigation into a computer-generated forged check that was supposedly written by the Graves County Board of Education.
The finance officer for the board discovered the transaction while looking over a bank statement. That check was written for nearly $2,000 and was cashed on December 24th last year. Wharton is currently housed at the Henderson County Detention Center.
