Kellerman Pretrial Date Set

By WSIL Reporter

PERRY COUNTY -- A Perry County man charged with assault and unlawful use of a weapon could face a trial this fall.

On Wednesday, Nathan Kellerman was in Perry County court.
He's accused of pointing a gun at another man outside a Pinckneyville club this past January.
A judge has rejected arguments by Kellerman's lawyer that the charges violate his second amendment rights.
"The very issue of people's right to bear arms is to defend themselves," said attorney Bryan Drew. "He wasn't doing it for an illegal purpose. It was merely done to try and keep from being harmed any further."
Kellerman is due back in Perry County court for a pre-trial hearing on October 21.
