KARNAK -- An Indiana man is behind bars accused of trying to lure a child into his car.

The suspect was caught, in part, because neighbors were looking out for each other.

64-year-old Dwayne McCoy is charged with child abduction.

McCoy was first spotted by residents in Karnak on Sunday night. One mother says McCoy stopped to talk to her. Soon after, the man stalker her son while riding his bike.

On Monday, police say McCoy asked an 11-year-old to get into his car and go to Paducah. That child ran away.

Late Tuesday evening, McCoy was seen again. This time, a couple of people followed him out of town and called the cops. McCoy was arrested on Interstate 57.

"Right now it's kind got a lot of people turned upside down," said Karnak Police Chief Charles Shelton. "You know they're really nervous, scared. They haven't had anything like this happen in this town that I can recall."

Police are still investigating why McCoy was in the area. He's being held at the Tri-County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. McCoy has also been ordered to stay out of Karnak.
