Illinois Set to Issue Licenses to Illegal Immigrants
CHICAGO (AP) - Immigrants living in Illinois who entered the U.S. illegally may begin applying for a state driver's license in December.
To receive a Temporary Visitor Driver's License (TVDL), applicants must follow specific guidelines, which include:
-- Beginning November 12, scheduling an appointment with the Secretary of State Driver Services facility online at www.cyberdriveillinois.com or by calling 855-236-1155
-- Presenting various documents providing:
* valid passport from the applicant’s native country or a Consular Identification Card from an approved country.
* proof of name,
* written signature,
* date of birth,
* current address and
* 12 months of consecutive residency in Illinois
-- Purchasing auto insurance upon receiving TVDL.
