ISP Calls Off Search for Gunman, Releases Few Details
JOHNSON COUNTY-- Police say initial reports of a woman abducted at gunpoint Monday contained false information. Their investigation continues, as many questions emerge.
Late Tuesday night, officials announced they were no longer looking for an armed man in Johnson County. That came more than 24 hours after a heavy police presence searched Ferne Clyffe State Park for a suspect.
Authorities said Wednesday the public is not in danger, but that offered little comfort to some.
"That's just starting chaos, crazy. People are scared anyways so to say something like that for no reason. I don't know. Why would they do that?" Twila Hodges said.
Police would not elaborate on the case, citing an ongoing investigation. The State's Attorney has not brought any charges, but that may change as more details are collected.
