Hunting and Fishing Days Begin
CARTERVILLE -- It's a weekend that many hunters look forward to every year. Saturday kicks off the 26th annual Hunting and Fishing Days at John A Logan College. The event is one of the largest celebrations of National Hunting and Fishing Day in the country.
Thousands of people came out to browse the different vendors and take part in demonstrations. Kids could play at the fishing hole, there was also a duck calling contest, and a dock diving contest for dogs.
Organizers say it's a great way for the family to spend some time together outdoors.
"The most important thing is to get kids outside, away from the TV and computer and that stuff. Get them outside, into nature, and fishing is one great way to do that," explains Chris Bickers with the Illinois Department of Resources.
If you missed out on Hunting and Fishing days at John A Logan Saturday, there will be plenty of more activities on Sunday from 9a.m. until 4p.m.
