WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- The cooler weather was no match for a group of determined runners Saturday morning. The annual Fly With the Eagles Half-Marathon took place at Crab Orchard National Refuge.

Nearly 500 people showed up to run in the race, many coming from all over the region and across state borders. The race was 13.1 miles through Crab Orchard Refuge. Organizers say the event is in conjunction with the Eagle Tours that the refuge sponsors every January.

"It's really grown. And what I want people to take away is that Southern Illinois is a great running location, even in winter," says race Co-Organizer Kevin Turner.

This is the eighth year for the event.  It's sponsored by the River to River Running Club.
