HERRIN--Man's best friend was the center of attention in Herrin Saturday.

Dogs and their owners lined up at the Central Hospital for Animals. A team was there to provide grooming, vaccinations, and advice to pet owners.

While their pets were being seen, people could also enjoy food and horseback rides.

Kyle Houseright brought his 12-week-old St. Bernard to the festival. He said he thinks it's a good chance for the dogs to socialize, which is very important when they're so young.

"We're trying to raise a kind dog and a good dog," said Houseright. "So getting them socialized at events like this that put them around other people is a big part of that."
