Hollywood Movie Begins Filming in Southern Illinois
MAKANDA -- Filming for the 20th Century Fox Movie "Gone Girl" is moving into southern Illinois and will begin shooting Monday morning.
Crews were at Giant City State Park Sunday afternoon, setting up camera equipment and lighting. The Giant City Lodge manager says crews will be filming at the state park through Thursday. All lodges and cabins have been reserved for the production crews.
Some local residents caught hold of Hollywood fever and stopped by to get a quick look.
"I thought it was pretty cool," says Herrin resident Heather Abbott. "I'm just excited for it to come out so I get a chance to watch it."
Filming for the movie began in Cape Girardeau last week. The movie is based off the best selling book of the same name and will feature stars like Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry, and Neil Patrick Harris.
