Police Chase 15-year-old Driver in Stolen Car

GRAVES COUNTY, KY-- Four juveniles and one man have been arrested after a police chase led to a crash.

Around 9p.m on Saturday, Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon attempted to stop a black four door Dodge car on US 45 North for a traffic violation. 

The 15-year-old driver of the vehicle began to accelerat, refusing to stop.  The fleeing vehicle hit several construction barrels but continued on US 45.

At the intersection of US 45 North and the KY 121 By-Pass, the vehicle ran a red light and collided with another car.   The collision sent the fleeing vehicle over the curb, hitting a fence and three parked vehicles.

When the vehicle stopped five male suspects fled from the car, but the driver was caught under the steering wheel of the vehicle and was taken into custody. The other suspects were arrested shortly after.

The operator of the vehicle that was hit, Willie Culpepper of Hickory and his son were both transported to a local hospital for injuries.

After the collision it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Paducah Police Department at around 2:00 AM on August 16, 2014.  

Four of those arrested, including the driver, were juveniles from Paducah.  

The driver’s charges include two counts of assault 1st degree, criminal mischief 1st degree, receiving stolen property over $10,000, fleeing or evading 1st degree in a motor vehicle, DUI 1st offense with an aggravated circumstance, possession of alcohol by a minor, no operator’s license and other traffic charges.  

The other teens face  fleeing and evading on foot, receiving stolen property over $10,000, possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of controlled substance 1st degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

One adult that was in the vehicle, 18 year old Tavariou Moore of Paducah, faces charges included fleeing/evading police on foot 1st degree, disorderly conduct 2nd degree, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, possession of alcohol by a minor and receiving stolen property over $10,000 

The Sheriff’s Office says one of the subjects that fled from the scene was carrying a firearm. It was not recovered from any of the individuals.
