Large Crowds For HerrinFesta Parade
HERRIN -- For those sticking around the area this holiday weekend, there are plenty of things to do and see, including HerrinFesta Italiana.
On Saturday, folks lined the streets of Herrin to take in the annual HerrinFesta Parade. By the afternoon, the carnival was packed with Festa-goers from all over southern Illinois, going on rides and eating plenty of tasty food.
"It's the people here; it's a genuine community and everybody's friendly. And I love the bocci ball competition and the kids, and it's great. Just
walking around seeing the people, watching the competition, a little bit of music, a little bit of everything," explains Bill Burns, a St. Louis resident.
Live entertainment is always one of the main attractions at HerrinFesta. Blue Oyster Cult takes the stage Saturday night. The concert gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Herrinfesta runs through Memorial Day.
