4th Annual Pancake Breakfast in Herrin
HERRIN -- There was some good eating in Herrin Saturday, as the youth program "Teens Making a Difference" held its fourth annual breakfast fundraiser.
The group served hot and fresh, all-you-can-eat pancakes, biscuits and gravy, as well as sausage and eggs. The breakfast was sponsored by various local restaurants and donations.
The after-school program develops leadership skills and teaches teens the importance of giving back.
"We learn how to do stuff good for the community and people that need help," says student Kelsey O'Connor.
"If they could do that now and we can show that to them now, when they get older they're going to know exactly what to do," says Director Julia Jordan.
The program is open to students 12 to 18 years old. Money from the breakfast will go toward the various activities that T.M.A.D. provides.
