Herrin Massacre Bus Tour

By WSIL Reporter

WSIL--  People took a ride back in history Saturday on the Herrin Massacre Tour.  The bus rides go from the Old Train Station in Carbondale, to the place of the first ambush, and all the way to the famous mine location.

There are several notable stops in Herrin and Marion.  Guides are also on the bus, and there are interactions at the stops.

Participants, like Todd Dietterle, believe it's a great way to relive local history.

"This tour was wonderful," said Dietterle. "What a great opportunity to meet people who are interested in this, but also to again just relive a very interesting chapter when Williamson County became known to the entire United States as Bloody Williamson."

The next tour is scheduled for August 15th. If you would like more information, you can visit their website at www.herrinmassacretour.com.
