By WSIL Manager

HERRIN -- A Herrin man is facing several charges after leading officers on a chase and ramming two police cars.

Victor Shea, 28, is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault of a peace officer, criminal damage to government property and possession of a controlled substance.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of 11th Street and Herrin Road.

Energy Police say an officer tried to stop Shea's Chevy Malibu for traffic violations, but Shea drove off, leading Energy and Herrin officers on a chase onto Bandyville Road. Police say Shea rammed two Energy squad cars then left his own car and took off on foot. He was taken into custody after being stunned by a police taser.

Shea is being held in the Williamson County Jail pending a court appearance. A passenger in his vehicle was released after giving a statement to police.
