Herrin Man Arrested After Chase
WEST FRANKFORT -- A Herrin man is facing multiple charges after a police chase in West Frankfort.
Corey Beers, 23, is charged with criminal damage to government property, driving on a revoked license, aggravated fleeing, resisting officers and four counts of drug possession.
West Frankfort officers tried to stop a pickup truck driven by Beers around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, but the truck kept going north on Route 37, eventually hitting a concrete curve.
Police say Beers then tried to take off again, putting the truck in reverse and hitting a squad car twice before he ran from his vehicle. He was taken into custody after a short foot chase.
During a search of the truck, West Frankfort authorities say they found a meth lab and other illegal drugs. The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was called in to dismantle the lab.
Beers is being held in the Franklin County Jail on $20,000 bond.
